About Port of Mombasa
Mombasa is Kenya's main international seaport, managed by the Kenya Ports Authority and in use as a harbour since 1896. It handled about 2.11 million TEU and about 45 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, and a large share of its traffic is transit cargo for landlocked neighbours.
Area served: Mombasa is the start of the Northern Corridor, which carries transit cargo by road, rail and pipeline to Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and eastern DR Congo.
How Vehicles Are Handled at Mombasa
There is no separate car terminal. The Kenya Ports Authority says multipurpose Berths 1 and 2 take RoRo ships as well as cruise, steel and container vessels, so vehicles on car carriers come in over general berths. Cars shipped in containers go through the port's two container terminals, which have a combined capacity of about 2.3 million TEU a year. Berth 23/19B is planned to raise that to 3.1 million TEU.

Shipping a Car from the UK to Mombasa

UK Vehicle Collection & Delivery
We collect any vehicle from any UK address and deliver it to the departure port at £1 per mile, driven on DVLA plates or moved on a carrier, timed to meet the booked sailing.
Secure Vehicle Storage
Vehicles wait with us in a secure compound between purchase and sailing, so there is no rush to move a car the day you buy it and nothing accumulating in storage charges at the port. Quoted separately from the shipping price.
Paintwork Reconditioning
Where a car would arrive the better for it, we can recondition the paintwork before it ships — worth doing while the vehicle is with us rather than paying to sort it out after it lands. Quoted separately from the shipping price.
UK Vehicle Customs Clearance
We make export declarations directly on the UK customs system and prepare every document needed at the UK port of exit, including the Bill of Lading, export certificate and DVLA export documentation.
