About Mumbai Port
One of India's oldest ports, set up as the Bombay Port Trust in 1873 and run by the Mumbai Port Authority since 2022. It handled about 68.6 million tonnes in 2024-25, mostly bulk and petroleum products. Most container traffic for the Mumbai region has been handled at the nearby Jawaharlal Nehru Port (Nhava Sheva) since 1989.

How Vehicles Are Handled at Mumbai
Car carriers use the Offshore Container Terminal (OCT), two berths with 700 m of quay reached by a trestle from Indira Dock, which the port authority says now handles RoRo vessels and car carriers for car and steel exports. The berths are licensed to Indira Container Terminal Pvt Ltd and have handled RoRo ships since July 2015, with the berth pocket kept at 11 m. The traffic is mainly exports: Škoda Auto Volkswagen India alone shipped more than 40,000 vehicles through the port in 2025-26. Cars shipped in containers to Mumbai generally go through Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

Government Pre-Shipping Inspection
Where the destination country requires a pre-export roadworthiness inspection, we arrange it with the approved inspection agency before the sailing so the vehicle is not held up on arrival. Quoted separately from the shipping price.
UK Vehicle Collection & Delivery
We collect any vehicle from any UK address and deliver it to the departure port at £1 per mile, driven on DVLA plates or moved on a carrier, timed to meet the booked sailing.
Secure Vehicle Storage
Vehicles wait with us in a secure compound between purchase and sailing, so there is no rush to move a car the day you buy it and nothing accumulating in storage charges at the port. Quoted separately from the shipping price.
Paintwork Reconditioning
Where a car would arrive the better for it, we can recondition the paintwork before it ships — worth doing while the vehicle is with us rather than paying to sort it out after it lands. Quoted separately from the shipping price.
UK Vehicle Customs Clearance
We make export declarations directly on the UK customs system and prepare every document needed at the UK port of exit, including the Bill of Lading, export certificate and DVLA export documentation.
