About Tibar Bay Port
Tibar Bay Port began operating on 30 September 2022 and took over all container ship operations from the old Port of Dili, which now serves domestic ferries and cruise ships. It is run by Timor Port, a public-private partnership under a 30-year concession signed in 2016 with the Bolloré group, and is the only port in the country able to receive international cargo vessels. It handled 58,267 TEU between October 2022 and July 2023, almost all of it imports.
Area served: A paved road links the port to Dili; beyond the capital, cargo moves with small trucking firms on more constrained roads.
How Vehicles Are Handled at Tibar Bay
Tibar has 630 m of quay in two berths with 16 m draft, one for container ships and one for general cargo, worked by ship-to-shore gantries, rubber-tyred gantries and reach stackers. Cars from outside the region arrive in containers at Tibar; RoRo loading continues at the old Dili port, but only for domestic ferries to Oecusse and Atauro.

Paintwork Reconditioning
Where a car would arrive the better for it, we can recondition the paintwork before it ships — worth doing while the vehicle is with us rather than paying to sort it out after it lands. Quoted separately from the shipping price.
UK Vehicle Customs Clearance
We make export declarations directly on the UK customs system and prepare every document needed at the UK port of exit, including the Bill of Lading, export certificate and DVLA export documentation.
