It is a petrol plug-in hybrid: a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine works with electric power to give 242 bhp in total, with xDrive all-wheel drive and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddles, for 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds. Its 16.3 kWh battery gives up to 53 miles of electric range.

It has M Adaptive Suspension, M Sport styling inside and out, 18-inch M double-spoke bicolour alloy wheels and high-gloss Shadowline trim with matching roof rails. As options, it also has an opening panoramic glass sunroof with sun protection glass, extended high-gloss Shadowline trim and a heated steering wheel.
