This HR-V e:HEV is a third-generation Honda HR-V in Elegance specification, the entry grade of the three offered when the model went on sale in the UK, and it was built before Honda’s 2024 update. It is a self-charging petrol hybrid: Honda’s e:HEV system pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors, one working as a generator and one driving the front wheels, and switches automatically between electric, hybrid and engine drive, so it never needs plugging in. The drive motor gives 129 bhp (131 PS) and 253 Nm through Honda’s eCVT automatic transmission, for 0-62 mph in 10.6 seconds and a top speed of 106 mph. The boot holds 319 litres with the rear seats up and 1,289 litres with them folded.
