Jaguar Land Rover’s fourth-quarter wholesale volumes jumped 61.1% compared with the previous quarter, a clear sign that production has normalised after the cyberattack that disrupted operations earlier in the year.
The Numbers
JLR shipped 95,300 vehicles to dealers in the final quarter of financial year 2026 — a steep rise on Q3, though still down 14.5% year-on-year. Retail sales for the quarter came in at 92,700 units, 14.3% behind the same period the year before.
Looking at the full financial year, the picture is more mixed:
- Full-year wholesale volumes: 307,900 units, down 23.2% versus the prior year
- Full-year retail sales: 352,300 units, down 17.8% versus the prior year
Range Rover, Defender and Range Rover Sport Carry the Business
The strength in the quarter came overwhelmingly from JLR’s premium end. Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender together accounted for 77.1% of quarterly wholesale volumes, up sharply from 66.3% a year earlier — underlining how central these three model lines have become to the company’s export performance.
Regional Picture
Growth wasn’t evenly spread. Of JLR’s major markets, only the EU grew in the quarter:
- EU: up 4.1%
- UK: down 23.1%
- North America: down 19%
- China: down 29.8%
What Was Behind the Disruption
JLR pointed to a combination of factors weighing on the year: the cyberattack that halted production for several weeks, US tariffs affecting shipments, softer conditions in the Chinese market, and the wind-down of legacy Jaguar models ahead of the brand’s planned relaunch as an all-electric marque.
In its own words, the company said quarter-on-quarter volumes “rose significantly… as operations recovered and production returned to normal levels following the cyber incident.”
Why It Matters for Exporters
JLR remains one of the UK’s largest vehicle exporters, and swings in its production volumes ripple through the wider supply chain, shipping schedules, and secondhand availability of its most sought-after models abroad. The renewed strength in Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender output is a good sign for anyone sourcing these models for export, though continued softness in the US and Chinese markets is worth watching over the coming quarters.
