Morocco’s automotive industry exported MAD 93.655 billion (about $10.06 billion) of goods between January and June 2026, according to the monthly foreign trade figures of the country’s Foreign Exchange Office (Office des Changes), as reported by Morocco World News. That is 17.4% more than the MAD 79.807 billion of the first half of 2025, and it keeps the car industry Morocco’s largest export sector.
Where the growth came from
Most of the increase came from two parts of the industry:
- Car manufacturing (the “construction” segment in the Office’s figures) rose by MAD 7.988 billion to MAD 37.934 billion.
- Wiring harnesses rose by MAD 4.284 billion to MAD 35.050 billion.
Exterior components added a further MAD 983 million, reaching MAD 2.952 billion. Morocco’s exports as a whole grew more slowly, by 9.7%, and imports grew faster still, so the country’s trade deficit widened over the same period.
Shipping a UK car to Morocco
Moroccan customs states that only a car under five years old may be admitted for homologation, the step before registration, so apart from a few exceptions a UK car has to be under five years old when it is cleared; our Morocco page sets out the rule and its exceptions. Traffic keeps to the right, and if a left-hand-drive car suits you better we can source one in the UK and Europe and quote the car and its shipping together.
